For television, there will be a number of sources that I will rely on. First will be the OTA? service. I will be using a 4 tuner Tablo for this resource. The Tablo will plug into the coaxial and ethernet lines offering a means of watching TV without having to sit in front of the TV. In example, I could be working on my notebook in the office while having the recorded content playing on my iPad. When ATSC-3 becomes available in Pittsburgh, I will have to upgrade my Tablo if I will wish to continue using it.
In addition to the OTA television services, I will also have Sling. This is an IPTV? service provider giving me some cable channels for a $50 monthly fee. While not perfect, the service will work well enough. The only thing I will need is the app on the TV or smartTV adapter. In an ideal situation, it would be Apple TV with a basic 85″ television. In addition to Sling, I will also have access to Disney, HBO, Hulu, and Netflix. This will give me all of the content I could want, and allow me access to everything – again with an app on the smartTV adapter which will be the Apple TV box.
